TL DR: Star Wars isn’t beholden to real physics, but according to real physics, our characters’ clocks wouldn’t tick at the same rate.

But anyone working on a movie set on different planets should know that the timelines almost certainly wouldn’t match up, and the only hope of achieving any sort of simultaneity across such vast distances would be by way of magic (The Force). I’m not saying that Rian did the Lorentz transformations when working on the script or anything, and our characters here aren’t separated by 10 lightyears, so the relativity wouldn’t be that extreme. Two observers moving at 10 meters per second relative to one another could disagree about the temporal relationship by as much as four months if separated by a distance of 10 lightyears.

Fans of the cartoon series Star Wars Rebels didn't have to mourn the end of the franchise's latest venture into animated territory for long when it was announced that a follow-up. And it depends on both distance and relative speed. After being vaguely hinted, we now finally know exactly when the animated series Star Wars Resistance takes place in the franchise's timeline. This amazing boat trip not only allows you to take a closer look at. There’s every reason to believe that Rey’s storyline and Leia/Poe/Holdo’s storyline and Finn/Rose’s storyline don’t unfold at the same pace. Filming of Star Wars The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi took place on Skellig Michael. Imposing real world physics onto a fantasy world here, I know, but. I love the movies but this is one of the thing that just feels off. Just like yep time to lift some rocks, i must be a jedi now. Rey goes from a scavenger to someone who can lift giant rocks in a week? And not even challenged to do so. The new movies feel like two episodes of an HBO show in their pacing, and as a result I feel as a viewer that these characters are developing way too fast in relation to whats actually happening. My point is that the progress feels realistic, and like you said, it lets these characters OWN their progression. Hes supremely confident, maybe to the point of hubris (did he plan to get thrown to the rancor?) In ROTJ its been a year passed, and Luke immediately starts the movie as a badass jedi. THREE! Our force user is more self-assured, less brash, more experienced and we get the feeling that hes still learning The implication is that she’s a Skywalker kid (Luke’s, most likely she didn’t seem to recognize Leia. In ESB the feeling of progress between 1 and 2 is palpable. The most obvious dangling thread from Force Awakens is the identity of Rey’s parents. (he still manages to use the force and save the day) In ANH our force user is brash, naive, and very much a newbie to the force and the galaxy at large. The OT was so brilliantly paced though, that its really a hard comparison for any trilogy let alone another star wars trilogy. Yeah this is one of my criticisms of the new movies as well.
